Google Introduces Favicons in Mobile Search Results

If you perform any search on your mobile device, you'll notice the new addition of company icons alongside each search result. These icons are called favicons, which are small images typically seen in browser tabs for visited websites.

Google recently introduced a fresh appearance for mobile search results, incorporating favicons in SERPs (search engine results pages). The website name and its corresponding favicon now appear at the top of each result card, as depicted in the accompanying image.

According to Google, this new design is beneficial for searchers as it enables easier scanning of result pages, allowing them to quickly determine which source they prefer for obtaining information.

In the case of a mobile Wix website, displaying the favicon in Google's search results requires no action on your part. Unlike other platforms where you need to add a link tag to the header of your homepage, Wix takes care of this automatically.

However, if you don't see a favicon next to your site in Google's search results, ensure that you have uploaded a favicon image to your Wix site by following these steps:

1. Go to Settings in your site's dashboard.

2. Click on "Manage" next to Favicon.

3. Click "Upload Image."

4. Select an image from your computer or upload one by clicking "Upload Images."

Google recommends using an image with dimensions that are a multiple of 16 x 16 pixels, in either .jpg or .png format.

Please note that the aforementioned process applies only to Wix Premium Plan users (not available for free websites) with a connected domain.
